Principal Chorus

The Principal Chorus (PC) is the CCOC’s main performing chorus and also acts as the children’s chorus for the Canadian Opera Company when their productions call for young voices. PC offers an accelerated, professional musical experience, where young people learn and perform complex repertoire in many different languages, supported by work on advanced musical skills, including IPA. Ensemble work is balanced with work on solo skills and developing healthy advanced vocal technique, performing, and acting techniques. Rehearsals include regular drama training, full chorus rehearsals, sectional work, solo coaching, and staging rehearsals.

The Principal Chorus regularly collaborates with leading professional musicians, musical organizations, coaches, directors, and conductors.

Participation in the Principal Chorus requires significant commitment, and members enjoy exciting performance and training opportunities and are part of a rich and supportive community.
