Canadian Children’s Opera Company

Originally commissioned and premiered by the CCOC in 2004, this fast-paced adaptation of Tolkien’s classic novel returns to the stage with a cast of over 100 children and youth. Dean Burry’s critically-acclaimed opera is remounted in Toronto after two successful US productions.  Join Bilbo on his adventure with Gandalf (Canadian bass-baritone Giles Tomkins) and his dwarvish friends as they seek to outwit elves, goblins, wolves, and spiders alike in their quest to restore the Dwarf king Thorin Oakenshield to his throne.  Originally premiered by the CCOC in 2004, The Hobbit has gone on to several international productions.
