Apprentice Chorus

Participants in our Apprentice Chorus (AC) focus on healthy vocal production, deepening their musicianship skills, and are introduced to basic drama techniques and stage direction. Part-singing is introduced through canons and rounds along with performing joint works with older divisions of the CCOC.

The drama curriculum highlights each participant’s unique voice in the world. Choristers explore the power of gesture, connecting meaning to lyrics, and how to create characters (animate and inanimate) physically and vocally.

The Apprentice Chorus participates each season in a fall all-choir concert, and are also offered performance experiences as both the chorus in our mainstage opera and the junior division opera. When choristers are ready, they graduate to the Intermediate Chorus.

AC choristers are typically ages 7 – 9.
