OUTREACH

OPERAtion KIDS

OPERAtion KIDS is the education and outreach program of the Canadian Children's Opera Company. In 2009-10 OPERAtion KIDS features an after-school workshop that meets on Monday afternoons from 4:30 to 6:00pm. This season, OPERAtion KIDS will meet at Cecil Street Community Centre at 58 Cecil Street near College & Spadina.

  • The workshop is appropriate for children ages 8 – 13. Although there is no audition required for the program, applicants are generally assessed to insure they are best placed in OPERAtion KIDS rather than the main program.
  • OPERAtion KIDS runs from September to May, for 33 sessions and the cost is $20 per participant. This is possible with the generous support of The George Cedric Metcalf Foundation’s Strategic Initiatives Program.
  • OPERAtion KIDS will introduce participants to the magical world of opera. Everyone is welcome, regardless of experience, knowledge or ability and the workshop includes acting, singing, prop-making, costumes, writing scripts, creating sets and stage management.
  • Each year participants will create a opera that will be a unique work written, designed and performed by the students.

This program made possible by the George Cedric Metcalf Foundation For more information, or to apply, contact the CCOC office at (416) 366-0467.
